Who says an undead Egyptian can’t throw down anymore? These mummy fights prove a 2,500 year-old corpse has some chutzpah. Get battles below.
The Mummy (2017)
Ahmanet stars as the main mummy in the 2017 re-imagining from Universal Studios. She sucked souls to restore her youth and threw down with evil magic to create havoc in London. Her escape scene is one of my favorite parts of the movie. Overall, it was just meh, but you can’t doubt it’s action cred.
The Mummy (1999)
In 1999, Universal Studios made an action-based version with some laughs in it. It’s still one of my favorite mummy films, and the gags worked! Too bad Imhotep went out kinda easily.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
In The Mummy Returns, Brendan Frasier and had his life turned upside-down again. But his wife, Evie, got a chance to thrown down against Imhotep’s paramour, Anck Su Namun. They used sais like Elektra from the Miller run on Daredevil.
The Monster Squad (1987)
The Monster Squad was positioned as a kids movie back in the day. It’s not. It’s filled with violence, death and jokes. Unfortunately, the classic monsters get killed off, but the mummy had it the worst. Unravelling? Really?! Still, it’s classic 80s fun.
The Mummy (1959)
I’m a big fan of the Hammer Studio movies from the 50s-to-70s. They’re known more for their Dracula and vampire films, but they made 4 great mummy flicks, too. These are the rambling mummies you could outrun. Not the scariest kinds with magic and Olympic-gymnast-calibre moves. While the mummies lumbered along, Hammer Studios really set the atmosphere with set design, monster makeup, and cinematography.
The Mummy (1932)
In the very first Mummy (1932), Boris Karloff gave us the most iconic form of mummy. It’s one that lasts til this day. The figure wrapped in gauze.
Since the 90s, We’ve seen more mummies rejuvenated to their more fleshed out bodies. I do have to say I like the modern mummies more than the originals. It’s mainly because I like the magical powers and action moves. Nothing against the first 20-years of movie versions, but I could outrun them.
