Demons are entities from beyond the Veil. Their worlds are nothing like ours, and don’t expect them to understand human feelings. Once the Veil closes, many demons get left in our world. Find out how to fight these buggers after the jump.

Demon Background

Demons are entities from beyond the Veil that separates our world from theirs. It doesn’t have to be Hell like we think of in the Western world. Although, some may come from worlds of fire and smoke.

Most demons view our world as a playground: It’s one they can come and manipulate the people living here. It’s also a place where they can get away with murder.

Demons aren’t very nice. They have no concept of empathy, suffering or mercy. In their worlds, causing pain is fun.

As you’d expect, they come to party on earth. And that means someone’s going to get hurt.

How Demons Enter The Earthly Plane

There’s 3 common ways a demon will enter our world. They include:

  • The week of Halloween and the thinning of the Veil
  • Black magick used by dark witches
  • A person allows a demon to enter their bodies

As mentioned in a previous post about the Veil, demons can tell when the barrier between worlds gets so thin, they can pass through. Now, a demon needs a host to stay here. That means it needs to invade someone’s body or it gets forced out in a few hours.

Black magick is another entry point. In most cases, a dark witch makes a deal with an entity and opens a portal. The demon still needs to inhabit a body, so the dark witch has a victim, called a vessel, ready.

Sometimes, a person can allow themselves to be taken over by the demon. This is a rare event, and most cases involve a haunted house or other supernatural place where a demon can cross over.

How Demons Inhabit People

When a demon enters a human body, there’s a few things that could happen:

  • The demon shunts off the person’s conscience
  • It rips the soul from the vessel and takes over until the demon gets forced out
  • The entity psychically kills the person and permanently resides in the body

When a demon shunts off someone’s conscience, that victim continues on in a space in the mind. They can fight the demon from time-to-time. That happens when the demon tries to do something evil. There’s always a battle. Weaker demons take this approach because they don’t have the power to rip the soul out or psychically kill their vessels. Most demons take this approach to our world.

When a demon rips the soul from a vessel, it removes the victim’s conscience. That gives the demon free reign over the vessel’s body. But the victim will try to return to their body. That causes a battle with the demon and the person in their body. Again, it usually happens when the demon tries to do something bad.

Psychically killing someone is only for the most powerful demons. Once it enters the vessel, it destroys the person’s conscience. They turn off and the demon takes over. There’s no battle when the demon does something evil because that person is essentially dead. If the demon leaves, the body may still live, but in a coma.

What Do These Entities Think Is Fun

They’re not going to help with a bake sale. The possessed vessel will likely put a little oleander in the tea at the bingo hall.

Really, demons like fun that leads to pain, suffering and death. They don’t care if they kill their vessels because they’ll just jump into the next suitable candidate.

Anyway, demons like to do all of the following:

  • High-stakes gambling
  • Armed robbery
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Fist fighting
  • Attempted murder
  • Murder in the 1st or 2nd degree
  • Vehicular homicide

You get the idea. It never ends well for the those close to the vessel, nor the vessel.

How To Protect Yourself From Dark Entities

It’s surprisingly simple: Wear some stones. There are a few stones and gems that can stop a demon from inhabiting your body. After all, Mother Nature has a cure for all afflictions. That includes demons.

In a pinch, have the following rocks on hand to stop a possession:

  • Agate
  • Jade
  • Jasper
  • Jet
  • Magnetite
  • Malachite
  • Obsidian
  • Onyx (demons HATE onyx. It breaks all demonic bonds)
  • Topaz
